Jason Collett @ the Rivoli, Toronto. July 12, 2006. Billed (yet scarcely advertised) as "an intimate evening", the Rivoli filled its small backroom with chairs & cafe tables for a solo acoustic performance by the BSS posterboy on Wednesday evening (my birthday - I like to think he played just for me. Uh-huh.) Jason played 2 shows along with producer/songwriter Howie Beck that were so quiet you could hear a pin drop (or my camera shutter click). He charmed the respectful audience with a set full of mostly new or unreleased material, including the very well recieved "Tropic of Safety" and "No Redemption", and dedicated his naughty older hit "Diggin' In The Carpet" to Nelly Furtado, "because she's so sexy, and so promiscuous. And so subtle about it". Oh yeah, sarcastic liscense in full effect. Additional photos from this show: Flickr slideshow.
