Patrick Wolf - 5/11/07

Patrick Wolf @ the El Mocambo, Toronto - the fabulous Mr. Patrick Wolfwas scheduled to open the next night for the (boozey) Amy Winehouse, but I got clued in to this small rather unannounced show of his at the Elmo the night before, so hooray! Patrick puts on a one of the most inspiring, fun and magical live show you will ever see, and his story about falling in love last time he was in Toronto (so we have a special place in his glittery heart) was pretty damn adorable. I also loved watching all the fans glitter themselves up out in the line beforehand. Wayne Petti was a surprise replacement opener, and though it was a weird fit it is always great to see Wayne. I climbed up on top of the speaker to shoot the show because I wanted an interesting vantage point, and although it wasn't totally "the magic position" (har har), I got some fun shots. In this one I caught someone else's flash so it was wretchedly over-exposed, but it ended up looking really old school new wave-y to me so I cranked it up and went with it. And I kinda like it!
